South Carolina is one of the few states with open carry laws. ONLY TRAINED CWP HOLDERS will be allowed to Open Carry.
*(I recommend Concealed Carry when outside of your Property. I will give you the thought process on this decision why Concealed Carry is preferred by me in person).
Brief Work History - 1/4 Century Law Enforcement experience & Lifetime in Construction world.
After retiring from LE in CT, I moved to SC. Not quite done in LE I worked additional 8 years in South Carolina working at a Sheriff's Department. Then in 2016 a vocation in Safety in Construction 1926 OSHA Compliance was offered, and where I'am today.
Why I Do This - After a quarter plus century in Law Enforcement, I have learned the value of humanity, integrity, posses the training and experience to help the vulnerable families in our communities.
So instead of retiring this experience and knowledge, I decided to do something great with it, and give it back to all. This is why I'm starting here, insuring you are educated, able to protect yourself, and your family from the violent people who may come into your lives unexpectedly.
BEING AWARE OF YOUR SURROUNDINGS, IS THE MOST IMPORTANT SENSE YOU WILL NEED.
Now you are here, let me attempt to do everything in my power to educate and keep you safe. This training is just a piece. After training it is up to you, to practice stay proficient and turn this into muscle memory!
You MUST continue training, and keep educating yourself, to be proficient in your skills. I offer ADVANCED TRAINING, once I feel you are proficient in handling a firearm (ask & I will go over different options).
*ALL Law Enforcement Civil Servants (Federal/State/City/Military) Active & Retired, FREE FFL Transfer's. A Cop's Cop, always looking out for our Brothers & Sisters.
Having a CWP will eliminate the wait on the background check, but we can handle this also for FREE for South Carolina residence.
If you have been convicted of a Felony, or a misdemeanor involving violence ie. Criminal Domestic Violence, Assaults, Kidnapping etc. you have lost your right to have a Concealed Weapons Permit. Please Check with SLED, for qualifications on your criminal background, and any discrepancies. There are a few ways depending on your conviction to see if you qualify to get your CWP, consult a good Specialized Criminal Attorney.
*There will be a waiver form, SLED Application, & Checklist. THIS MUST BE COMPLETED AND BE WITH YOU PRIOR TO CLASS.
* Dress - we do the educational section eg, laws, test etc in the environment of your choice. When we get to the Range you SHOULD wear boots of some type for rugged terrain, dress casual for weather, a hat is often used to protect from flying brass, you will be drawing from your holster, make sure you have a belt on.
* Accessories - Hearing, and Eye Protection are a must. You will Shoot 25 rounds (Minimum) so be prepared with the Caliber of Ammunition you will be firing with.
* Firearms - Bring the Firearm (UNLOADED) you will be carrying/using daily. If you DO NOT OWN ONE let me know, I will loan you one.
* Fingerprints - There are two options Click Here for electronic or Contact your local Police or Sheriffs Department to have them take you Fingerprints.
Additionally ALL form MUST BE COMPLETED IN FULL IN DUPLICATE (2 sets).
